Spoiler Alert! Will Smith isn't in this movie. Also we had 20 years to prepare for an alien invasion, should have been spent more on making a good movie.
The Story - 5/10
Independence Day 2 is set 20 years after the first movie (and if your wondering what i think of the first one, it's good just to sit down and watch and eat some popcorn) and the earth as united and moulded their technology with the aliens. But now they have come back in a much larger ship that should be about 1/4 of the earths circumference. So what do we need to do, take off in planes that aren't any match for the new alien ships. Sound familiar? But to the films credit, i could predict what the ending was going to be but how it would come to fruition it kept me guessing. So you need to give a movie praise when it does that.
The Characters - 3.5/10
There are way too many characters to name here so I am just going to cover who your going to give a legitimate crap about.
Jeff Goldblum is back in the role and he is just as he was in the last movie. More ums and uhs than shake a bag of ums and uhs at. He isn't that memorable but you know that he has a position in the film
Bill Pullman is in this movie as an old coot that always tries to solve why the aliens are coming or some other poorly explained plot point in this movie
So in conclusion the characters aren't interesting and or memorable.
The Action - 3/10
The action in this movie is not as exhilirating as the first film and the ships and jets have been integrated with the old alien stuff and so i don't know who to root for in this movie. Also one thing this movie tried to do was show more of the aliens on the ground with rifles but that was uninteresting and dull. The final fight at the end though was not as good as the last stand you would expect from a movie like this.
Conclusion
In the end, Independence Day Resurgence is not worth seeing, whether you loved the first one or want to have a good time
It gets a 4.5/10
