Terminator Genisys
If you thought Terminator Salvation was bad.......It still is. This film has already been spoiled to death by the horrendous trailers. But this film does try to answer some questions from the first Terminator movie and that's something I can admire. Though it might not be the best way to make the film any
more strong. This film has so many plot holes, it might as well be Swiss cheese. But Swiss cheese can be tasty.
The Story - 4.5/10
The film takes place in the future of all the Terminator movies and in-between the first film and the modern-day of that universe. It is very confusing and that was the best way I could describe it, so work with me here!
It starts with John Connor capturing the main compound in the war against the machines. He then finds out that a Terminator was sent back. Then the rebels send Kyle Reese to the time the first Terminator went in Terminator 1. He then gets followed by a T-1000 from Terminator 2 and gets rescued by Sarah Connor (who isn't a scared waitress anymore) and an old T-800. Together they must stop an app called Genisys from being launched in the future and things get very complicated.
The Characters - 6/10
Arnold Schwarzenegger reprises his role as the T-800 and does feel like the T-800 from
Terminator 2. But the way they explain why he is old (i have to admit) is very clever. But
I don't think he is even enough to save the film.
Emilia Clarke plays Sarah Connor (side note, at one point in the film I think Game of Thrones fans will be extremely pissed). She does play Sarah Connor as a complete badass. She isn't a worried waitress anymore and can handle the best weapons in the world.
Jai Courtney plays Kyle Reese. He is a very good actor but I don't think he is good for this
particular role. He does play a guy who just tries to figure stuff out and not a person who
will just go with what is going on. But he is unfortunately a case of a dude just playing the
character and not the character.
The Action 7/10
The action is just what your would expect from a Terminator movie. It's big, it's grand and
has heart pumping awesome.
There is helicopter chases, shooting from a van, using the terrain, explosions (in fact it might
as well be a Michael Bay film). But still the action is satisfying. We know that the
heroes are going to make in the end. It is absolutely awesome with the special effects as well.
Overall this is a fun movie but isn't anywhere close to the masterpieces of Terminator 1 and 2.
Even if you think you knew what the story was going to be, you'd still be right.
So i think it is deserving a rank of 6.5/10
Terminator Genisys is owned by Skydance productions and Paramount Pictures. I do not own it.
(Sorry this review is so late. I have been caught up with many other things so i apologise)
You're a harsh Judge Dr Watman. I enjoyed it enough to forgive its flaws.
